South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
Never say never. For example, classics should never be adapted. That’s why they’re called classics, right? But then there’s almost always the exception to every hard and fast rule. Shrimp and grits are a southern classic. We’d never seen a twist put on them at a restaurant until perusing the menu at this scrumptious roadside stop in South Carolina.
The Palms Grill and Bar, located on the side of Highway 76, an important South Carolina route connecting the cities of Anderson, Columbia, Sumter, and Florence, is in small-town Newberry.
On the menu, you’ll see some interesting options, including BBQ shrimp and grits. They are tasty and flavorful, perfect for when you’re in the mood for something a little different!
There are additional seafood choices, plenty of other types of options if you’re allergic or maybe just prefer something else, as well as varying desserts. The Honey, Ginger, and Lime Marinated Pork Tenderloin over creamy Mashed Potatoes with Brussels Sprouts topped with house-made Herb Aioli looks and sounds amazing!
Some of the customer favorites include steak, the patty melt, fried green tomato BLT sandwich, fried oysters, crab cakes, crab-stuffed tilapia, and apricot-glazed flounder.
Whatever your typical beverage preference, The Palms sometimes offers specials for holidays, such as these festive drinks, the Lucky Charm, Leprechauntini, and Shamrock Juice.
Whatever you get to eat or drink, you really can’t go wrong, and it’s the type of place with such a diverse menu you’ll want to go back to try something else.
