South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
Just southwest of Columbia along the Congaree River sits the City of Cayce, which is a smaller city of less than 14,000 people as of the 2020 census. It’s a pretty quiet place, not necessarily the type of place you’d expect to stumble onto a spot like Granby Gardens, a little-known city park in Cayce, South Carolina, that’s hiding quite the magical secret.
Granby Gardens is a simple, pretty little Cayce city park located on 12th Street.
... and of course, the vintage Cinderella carriage that looks exactly like you would imagine from the infamous fairytale story every little girl grows up hearing!
The carriage used to be located at the "Cinderella" Howard Johnson's motel that was on Knox Abbot Drive. It was a popular spot for prom pictures back in the day!
The carriage looks most magical and even gets a horse hitched to it when it's adorned with Christmas lights during the holiday season! The entire city park gets decked out for this special time of year... it's worth a trip to see when you're making Christmas lights rounds during that time of year.
And girls of all ages still enjoy it today at its new home in Granby Gardens city park in Cayce. We all need those fun, beautiful moments where we feel as though we're in a fairytale.
