Interstate 15 is the most popular way to travel from north to south in the Beehive State. While many people simply drive along this freeway to reach their destination, they do not realize that they are passing many incredible gems. In fact, there are several excellent road trip stops along I-15 that are always worth a visit. So, we put together this I-15 road trip itinerary that’s one of the best road trips in Utah, and takes you from Provo to St. George. While it may take a bit longer to reach your destination by making the following seven stops, you won’t regret this adventure.

Interstate 15 is one route that many Utahns are familiar with and have traveled at least once. But, if this is your first time, you can expect to travel nearly 275 miles and plan for at least four hours of drive time. You can customize your trip using this interactive map.

Just outside of Provo is our first stop — Legends Motor Co., in Springville. This unique family-friendly destination features the Legends Motorcycle Museum with dozens of incredible two-wheeled machines. You can also grab a bite to eat in one of the restaurants or spend some time shopping and admiring the unique design of this incredible destination. It’s the first stop on our Utah road trip.

2. Young Living Lavender Farm, Mona

Young Living Lavender Farm features 1,400 acres of bright and fragrant lavender. While this farm hosts events throughout the year that you may attend, you can stop into the visitors center on your drive to learn even more about this farm, lavender, and other herbs.

3. Yuba State Park, Utah

Just a few miles from the freeway, you can enter Yuba State Park on this drive from Provo to St. George. This is a beautiful reservoir located in the desert and surrounded by mountains. It is also the perfect road stop, particularly during the warmer months of the year. Here, you can spend an entire day fishing, swimming, or boating. If you wish to break your road trip into multiple days, excellent camping opportunities are available in the summer months.

Of course, you can’t pass through Fillmore without stopping at Cluff’s Carhop Café. This delicious restaurant is not only where you can order a tasty burger, fries, homemade lemonade, and a thick milkshake, but you will feel like you’ve stepped back in time as soon as you arrive. This is a seasonal restaurant so you may want to call ahead to ensure this cafe is open before hopping off the freeway.

5. Cove Fort, Utah

Located between Beaver and Fillmore is historic Cove Fort. This destination is a great place to stretch your body and mind during your journey. Cove Fort was an important stop for travelers, the Pony Express, and telegraph lines in the 1880s. Today, you can take a tour of the restored fort to learn more about this unique area and the people who stopped there. Plus, tours are free of charge. Who wouldn’t want to do this Provo to St. George drive?

The Creamery is a gem the entire family will enjoy. During your visit, you can enjoy delicious cheese, cheese curds, and ice cream. There is even a full kitchen where you can taste everything from breakfast sandwiches to incredible nachos and macaroni and cheese. You may even get to say hello to the dairy cows when you stop by.

7. Red Reef Trail, Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, Utah

Just before you reach St. George, how about exploring some of the beautiful red rocks that southern Utah is known for? Our final destination is the Red Reef Trail. This trailhead is found at the Red Cliffs Campground and is a fun out-and-back hiking trail. You will walk through red rocks and a creek to a small, yet beautiful waterfall. For even more adventure, use the rope and Moki Steps to climb to the top of the waterfall.
