Back in the 1950s, the drive-in restaurant was the cool place to be. You could pull your car right up and a carhop (sometimes on roller skates!) would take your order, then deliver your food to you. The drive-in was a spot for teenagers to hang out and young families to enjoy a unique meal right in their cars. Today, only a few drive-ins with carhops remain, but there’s one right here in Fillmore that you should visit if you want to be reminded of the good old days.
At Cluff's Carhop Cafe, you can get service while you wait in your car - just like in 1950 when the restaurant first opened. You'll find Cluff's in Fillmore at 270 N Main St., Fillmore, UT 84631.
This place might be a drive-in, but the food is higher quality than you'd expect from a typical burger joint. The beef served here is fresh, and the ingredients are all sourced locally whenever possible. The restaurant is family owned and operated, and the staff all takes great pride in what they do.
You can get regular fries or waffle fries to go with your burger, but we highly recommend the hand-breaded onion rings. These might just be the best onion rings in the Beehive State, and we don't offer that kind of compliment lightly.
Cluff's closes every winter for a couple months, but it varies. If you're thinking of visiting in the late fall or early spring, give the restaurant at call at 435-743-5510 to see if they're open for the season yet!
