Cheese lovers rejoice! Your search for the ultimate restaurant ends in Wyoming. It’s here, in the city of Casper, you’ll find a charming eatery dedicated to all things cheese. Serving breakfast and lunch six days a week, practically everything on the menu is sprinkled with cheese, slathered in cheese sauce, has cheese in it, or is served with a flavorful wedge of cheese on the side. It’s the cheesy restaurant of your dreams only it’s real – and it’s delightful.
The Cheese Barrel Restaurant at 544 South Center in Casper is every cheese lover's dream come to life.
Open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., it's a quaint little home-town café where turophiles can get their cheese fix.
Just about everything on the menu has cheese in it, on it, or beside it, starting with the delicious cheesy breakfasts. Order a traditional omelet such as a Denver, ham and cheese, or a Western and choose your favorite fromage to go in it and on it.
Alternatively, you can build your own omelet and make it as cheesy as you wish.
Another breakfast specialty is the croissant stuffed with eggs and cheese, and you can add bacon or breakfast ham if you want to.
Other delicious breakfasts at the Cheese Barrel include Huevos Rancheros, breakfast burritos, and a green chili skillet, all topped and/or filled with cheese.
Once lunchtime rolls around, the cheesy hits keep coming, with the Cheese Barrel's world-famous cheese bread leading the charge. It's homemade, hearty, and the perfect base to build a sandwich on or to have served on the side of a mouth-watering bowl of soup.
They always have clam chowder and chili simmering on the stove--both served garnished with cheese, of course--but there's also a cheese soup of the day every day during the week such as pepper cheese, cheesy broccoli, or cheesy cauliflower.
Just like the omelets, you can build your own sandwich, choosing from a selection of breads, meats, and - most importantly - cheeses. However, the menu also offers familiar favorites that include cheese, like the Rueben, the beef eater, a super grilled sandwich oozing with three kinds of cheese, and the Cheese Barrel's own creation of jalapeno cheese and pastrami on marble rye.
Building an entire meal on cheese doesn't have to stop at dessert when you eat at the Cheese Barrel. They offer two kinds of cheesecake plus a delicious carrot cake with cream cheese icing...
...and the cinnamon rolls are slathered in cream cheese frosting, too.
Who knew the quaint little spot cheese lovers have been searching for has been here all along, right in Casper, Wyoming?
