This Little Known State Park Is One Of Wyoming's Greatest Treasures
State parks are established to protect an area due to its natural beauty, historic appeal or recreational opportunities. Wyoming has 12 established state parks within its boundaries. This little known state park is one of Wyoming’s greatest treasures.

Seminoe State Park is operated by the state and is used as a public recreational area. It's located on the northwest side of the Seminoe Reservoir, north of Sinclair. To get there, take Exit 221 or State Route 220 off of Interstate 81.

The state park is nestled up against the Seminoe Mountains and covers an area of 1,450 acres of land with access to 20,000 acres of water. The park is in a beautiful setting and doesn't get the traffic some of the other parks experience.

The Seminoe Reservoir offers a wide array of water activities such as swimming, boating and fishing. The reservoir is a prime location for both trout and walleye fishing.

On land, there are some really nice picnicking and camping sites. The Sand Mountain Day Use Area provides two picnic shelters and access to a beach area.

There are three campgrounds with around 84 camp sites. North Red Hills Camping area and South Red Hills Camping area both have boat launches, play areas and drinking water. The Sunshine Beach Camping area is made up of a shoreline that is both rocky and sandy. There are two shelters but no drinking water.

Wildlife is everywhere in Wyoming. Some of the wildlife you might encounter here include bobcats, mule deer, skunks, raccoons, elk, moose, mountain lions, rabbits, bighorn sheep and bald eagles.

There's a restroom facility near the marina and a general store. There's also a cool sand dune that is fun to wander around on either by foot or ATV.

Seminoe State Park is a treasure for several reasons. The park is never crowded, the lake covers a large area and has a lot of private coves, the fishing is incredible and the scenery is spectacular, especially the drive to the dam.
