Now that we’re entering a new decade, everyone is coming up with resolutions to help make 2020 the best year yet. If you’re looking for some inspiration, or some ideas as to how to get the most of your life in Wyoming, read below and set your goals for the new year.
1. Discover the hidden gems.
Visit Wyoming's ghost towns, small towns, and tucked away communities this year. For a true hidden gem, make it a point to dine at the Atlantic City Mercantile or Miner's Grub in the same, nearly abandoned, town.
2. Make time to stop and smell the roses.
The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is a great place to take in the scents and sights of a beautiful garden. It's one of the most colorful places in the Cowboy State and you can visit year-round.
3. Climb a mountain.
Whether you drive to the top of Signal Mountain, take a long day hike to the summit of Disappointment Peak, or explore Rotary Park on Casper Mountain, set a goal for this year and smash it by getting out there and doing the biggest and best hike of your life in 2020.
4. Build a Snowman.
When was the last time you played in the snow? Blizzards, snow storms, and wind-blown drifts are all part of life in Wyoming, but as we get older, we start focusing on how inconvenient the snow is. Make it a goal to enjoy it like you did when you were a kid, and your whole winter attitude will change.
5. Take the scenic route.
Find the time to drive any of Wyoming's scenic byways this year. The Chief Joseph Byway, Beartooth Highway, and Snow Range Byway are just a few examples of these breathtaking roads.
6. Enjoy a sky-high view.
Take the tram to the top of Rendezvous Peak at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for a beautiful view. While you're there, dine at Piste Mountain Bistro or grab some waffles at Corbet's Cabin.
7. Get in touch with the history of the Cowboy State.
Wyoming is home to many world-class museums. The Buffalo Bill Center for the West is a remarkable collection that will take you at least two days to explore. Heart Mountain Interpretive Center takes a look at one of the darkest eras in American history, and the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center tells the stories of many of our ancestors.
8. Explore our National Forests.
Whether you hit the trails in Shoshone, Medicine Bow, Bighorn, or Bridger-Teton, Wyoming's national forests will impress you, and you'll soon find yourself falling in love with the landscapes. See how many miles you can log this year.
9. Treat yourself to a meal at one of our iconic restaurants.
You'll find legendary dining rooms all over the Cowboy State. Visit Svilar's for a delicious steak and some Yugoslavian treats. Head to the historic Irma Hotel for a delicious prime rib buffet. Or, just drive around Wyoming's towns and ask the locals where they like to eat. You'll find some great food if you take the time to branch out.
10. Fall in love with your home state all over again.
The more time you spend wandering through Wyoming, the more you'll realize that there's no place else on earth quite like it.
What are your resolutions this year? Get out there and live your best life in Wyoming in this new decade!
