Trying to find a quiet trail in Wyoming during the summer can be a challenge. Everyone loves to get out and enjoy the nice weather while we have it! If you’re looking for an easy loop trail that’s not too crowded, check out the hike to Island and Night Lakes, in the Absaroka Mountains. This Shoshone National Forest hike is one that will take you through some of the region’s most beautiful scenery.
Island Lake and Night Lake can be explored via an easy loop trail that's right off of the Beartooth Highway.
If you've never driven the Beartooth Highway before, you're in for a treat. The drive itself is as gorgeous as any hike you'll find.
This region of Wyoming is known for its wildflowers, and this loop trail doesn't disappoint there! If you walk on through in the summer, you'll get to enjoy fields of flowers as far as you can see.
You'll stumble upon two lakes - Island Lake and the lesser-known Night Lake. You can walk along the shore of Night Lake and double back, or travel all the way around to add some distance!
