If you’re looking to experience the feel of the Wild West, there’s only one town to visit: Cody. This (slightly hokey) town is dedicated to preserving the western history the same way that Buffalo Bill Cody set out to do when he created his traveling Wild West show. Though Buffalo Bill is long dead, the town that bears his name carries on his legacy at the Irma Hotel.
By 1901, a young man named Buffalo Bill Cody was the most famous in the world, for putting on a touring Wild West show.
He decided to found a vacation town right in the heart of the country he loved. In order to draw people to the town, he decided to build the enormous Irma Hotel.
In the back, you'll notice an enormous cherry wood bar. That very bar was donated by Queen Elizabeth herself, as a thank you for Buffalo Bill's Show in London.
A colorful cast of characters including Wyatt Thorpe, Butch Cassidy, Sundance, Miss Cassie, and even Buffalo Bill himself are portrayed to show off a typical Western scene.
Whether you choose to spend the night or just visit for a meal and a show, you'll quickly understand why the Irma was once the most famous hotel in the world.
This incredible piece of history is truly amazing to walk through and experience and the dining room serves a great meal! After one meal here, you’ll understand why the Irma made our list of Best Prime Rib Restaurants In Wyoming.
