There are around 500 bison dotted throughout the valley. Some even have a sense of humor like the one pictured above.

Fox and wolves are a common sight in the valley. Wolves were re-introduced to the area in 1995 and because of that, Lamar Valley is one of the most popular places to observe these mammals.

Bighorn Sheep are also plentiful here. They love the alpine meadows, grassy mountain slopes and foothills near the rugged, rocky cliffs.

One of the biggest thrills in the valley is spotting a grizzly bear. Lamar Valley has one of the largest concentrations of grizzly bears in the park.

Lamar Valley has been the site of two of the most significant conservation projects of our time. These include the recovery of the American Bison and the reintroduction of wolves to the northern Rockies.

The marshy ponds are reminiscent of what's left of the glacial period. These marshy areas will one day dry up and turn into meadows themselves.
