The Bridger Wilderness is one of Wyoming's most impressive preserves. You'll find thousands of acres of nature seemingly untouched by mankind.
The hike out along the Big Sandy Trail to Big Sandy Lake is one of the most exhilarating adventures you'll find out here, and any seasoned hiker will fall in love along the way.
Since this is a true wilderness hike, you'll want to be prepared for wildlife encounters. Carry bear spray and hike in groups if you're able to! Also, make sure someone knows your plans before you embark on the trek.
The elevation gain of just under 900 feet means this is far from the most strenuous Wyoming hike, but it's still enough to keep you in shape or help you prep for harder hikes.
The whole trip is just over 10 miles out and back, and the lake makes for a great spot to take a rest for a picnic before heading back to the trailhead. You can also camp here!
