,Visiting the Tetons in the summertime is always a bit of a hassle. While the stunning natural beauty is hard to beat, and hiking is absolutely perfect in the warmer months, the crowds can make hiking and securing a campsite a challenge. Luckily, there’s one secluded campsite not far from the area’s main attractions where you’ll find peace and quiet… and also get to spot some Wyoming wildlife up close.
Wyoming's Gros Ventre campground is a quiet, isolated site in the Tetons.
For other travelers, Gros Ventre offers a handful of dry RV and limited electric sites as well. All sites comes with stunning views of the Teton Range.
While Moose have a reputation for being irritable, they most likely will not both you, if you keep your distance and leave them alone. Here, you can quietly observe them in a way that most Americans never can.
So, keep that in mind when you're choosing a Teton campsite. You can fight the crowds at Jenny Lake, or you can retreat to a more secluded Gros Ventre, and perhaps have a Moose encounter of your own.
You can find the Gros Ventre campground at 100 Gros Ventre Campground Rd, Kelly, WY 83011. You can’t book your site in advance, but if you make it in time, you’ll be greeted with a beautiful plot featuring a fire pit and picnic table. There are flush toilets on the property. Be sure to keep your distance from any wildlife you may spot, and be respectful to Mother Nature.
