Relative to much of the country, Wyoming is a rather ‘new’ state. That being said, you can still find plenty of old fashioned gems out here, and the oldest soda fountain in Wyoming is one treasure you’ve got to visit.
The Chugwater Soda Fountain is the oldest soda fountain in Wyoming - this local legend has been serving up malts for over a century, in a building that dates back to 1914.
Inside, you'll find relics from the past. This building that once held a pharmacy still has supplies on display, along with all sorts of Wyoming knick-knacks.
People often say they've driven by the Chugwater Soda Fountain for years before finally stopping in. Trust me, you don't want to wait to experience this charming, old fashioned soda fountain.
The Chugwater Soda Fountain is located at 314 1st St, Chugwater, WY 82210, north of Cheyenne. They’re open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
If you’re wondering about the name Chugwater, well, it’s apparently the sound Bison made when they were driven off a nearby cliff, and landed in a river! Read more about Wyoming’s silliest town names, here.
