One of the best things about living in Wyoming is that you never quite know where you’ll discover a bit of the Old West. It seems like nearly everywhere we go, our history follows! That’s true for the best pizzeria in Wyoming as well, because it’s located in an old Mercantile that opened in 1882.
Way back in the 1880s, the Big Horn Mercantile served as a letter stop and general store for travelers in Northern Wyoming, near the Big Horn Mountains.
Step on in and you'll feel like you've stepped back in time to the old west. There's always room for another seat at the table here, and you'll find the friendly service and bright atmosphere as appealing as the food.
Their pizzas are all hand-made and prepared in their old fashioned wood fired oven, and Big Horn Merc only uses the finest ingredients. Pictured below, you'll find their Olive Medley pizza, featuring black, green, and kalamata olvies along with red onion and sundried tomato.
There's always something new being made here! The Big Horn Specialty, shown here, is made with basil pesto sauce, garlic, bell peppers, onions, pineapple, black olives, feta and mozzarella cheese - plus Mike's Hot Honey and fresh basil!
This Sunday Smokey Pie one is made with house alfredo, garlic, Italian sausage, peppadew peppers and a blend of smoked gouda and mozzarella. Then, it's finished with Verdello smoked balsamic vinegar and fresh basil.
The Chicken Bacon Ranch pie is a local favorite. Ranch and garlic are topped with chicken, bacon, onion, tomatoes and mozzarella - finished off with ranch and Verdello pizzaolio oil. Yum!
