Please keep a safe distance from wildlife. Remember, if it's a black bear fight back. Stand up tall and wave your arms to scare it away. If it's brown, lay down and play dead.

The trailhead starts at 6,741 elevation, and once you've reached the lake itself you're at 9,698, an incline of 3,000 feet.


This gorgeous glacial lake sits just below Disappointment Peak. As the story goes, early settlers hoped the slopes leading to the lake would continue to the summit of Grand Teton, but instead only found the summit of a peak they named Disappointment Peak.
