Clinton is a small town of about about 5 miles from the Illinois state line. It’s a bit too close to Beloit to be called middle of nowhere, but it’s close. It’s the type of place you pass on your way to other spots. But Clinton is home to one of the best little restaurants that you’ve ever seen and it’s well worth a drive to check it out.
The small Clinton Kitchen has simple chairs and tables as well as counter service. It's no-frills on the inside, but that's only because they save them for the food.
You'll find an amazing burger as well as really, really good breakfast foods. You can always order from the regular menu, but do yourself a favor and check out the ever-changing specials board for a real treat.
So much here is made in-house, from the rolls and muffins to the spectacular desserts. There's always a delectable soup on the menu and the roast beef brings people in for miles.
The food here is deceptively simple. You'll look at the menu and think it's typical small-town diner food, but you'll be blown away. Everything is so well-made and prepared and you can tell the folks here just really love making fresh, delicious foods.
I'm not going to lie to you, though. You're really here for the dessert. From unique mixtures like this brownie strawberry cake/pie hybrid to pie so good you'll want to take it home with you, Clinton Kitchen has everything you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.
It's hard to beat all the homemade pastries and desserts, but one of my very favorite things here is the Friday night fish fry buffet. It's such a unique and awesome way to do the ubiquitous Wisconsin fish fry at a spot that normally sticks to breakfast and lunch. The all-you-can-eat buffet has baked and fried fish, homemade rolls and potato pancakes and everything you could want to make a fabulous fish fry. And it's so inexpensive, as well!
