There is so much beauty in Wisconsin that’s it can be difficult to decide which parts to explore. But the state’s newest scenic byway is just waiting for you to discover it. Located way up north, the Nicolet-Wolf Scenic Byway stretches for 145 miles through numerous charming small towns and the Nicolet National Forest. Traversing parts of state highways 55, 32, 70 and 52 and takes you through Forest, Langlade, Oneida and Vilas Counties. This stunning byway takes lazy, winding country roads through some of the state’s most beautiful terrain and you’re going to want to check it out.
This beautiful, windy byway takes you through towns like Crandon, Laona, Waubeno, Langlade and more. There are plenty of campgrounds, activities and restaurants to discover along the way.

One worthwhile small detour is to check out the Cathedral of the Pines, one of the only old-growth areas left in the state. This are was logged heavily, but this stunning area was preserved. Stand here in the peaceful silence of nature and wonder at how small we really are.
Of course this drive is beyond description in fall, but it's really worth visiting any time of year. You never know what wildlife you might find, from deer and elk to wild turkeys and more birds than you can even count.
There's just something so tranquil and relaxing about slowly making your way through this part of the state, where everything moves a bit more slowly and all your stress just sort of melts away.
