Wisconsin has some truly wonderful and beautiful beach towns, but unfortunately that’s no secret. As the year turns towards summer, these towns fill up with tourists and get much more crowded. Before they get inundated and too full of people to be very enjoyable, take the time to check out these quaint, gorgeous towns and see why they are so popular.
From the cute little recreated fishing village to the gorgeous lakefront path that connects with Manitowoc, there's plenty to keep you happy right here on the water. There are two nearby lighthouses, Point Beach State Forest, Woodland Dunes Nature Center and a welcoming town that you won't want to miss.
In addition to being a Door County destination, Washington Island is home to Schoolhouse Beach, one of the most unique beaches anywhere. But this small spot just off the tip of the peninsula is worth the trip and ferry ride.

There are bigger towns along the Lake Superior coast but this little one is my favorite. The century-old general store, Siskiwit Falls and Meyers Beach are just some of the draws. A lot of folks use this as the jumping off point to head out on the water, so staying on land will mean you have a lot of space to yourself.

There are tons of places along Door County, but Sturgeon Bay has the bonus of having the city amenities along with Potawatomi State Park. Really, the whole of the peninsula should be considered for this list.

This gateway to the Apostle Islands has some seriously delicious food, adorable shops and Big Bay Beach State Park. It feels so remote and far away from everything.
The only place on this list not on a Great Lake, Lake Geneva is a summer haven for folks that live south of us and it fills up quick in the warmer months. Despite being popular with those other staters, it's still a thoroughly charming spot that's well worth discovering for yourself. Heading early in the season helps you avoid those neighbors while still getting to see what all the fuss is about. The unique mail boat, trail around the whole lake and really great food are just a few of the reasons to go.
The final northern and western frontier of Wisconsin, Superior is a spectacular jumping off point for exploring all that's wonderful along this shoreline. The long strip of beach along Wisconsin Bay is one of the best beaches anywhere. There are fun events all summer long.
A boater's paradise, Fish Creek is hopping all summer long. Head up there before that for fish boils, lighthouses and all the Door County charm you can handle.

Up on Lake Superior, you're probably making home base here or in Superior. This quaint town a bit further into the lake is home to a bunch of beaches, a maritime museum, a really cool arts community, concerts by the lake, a garden festival in Spring and the Apple Festival in Fall.
