There’s nothing that epitomizes all the things that make Wisconsin great like a supper club. They’re part of the fabric of our lives here. Though they’re sprinkled all around the state, it feels like the ones Up North are particularly welcoming. There’s something so comfortable about walking into a Northern Wisconsin supper club for a Friday Fish Fry or a Sunday Prime Rib dinner. A trip up to your cabin just wouldn’t be complete without a meal at a supper club that feels like a second home.
Up in the Chequamegon National Forest, about 50 miles north of Shawano, is the small town of Mountain. There, perched right on the edge of the lake of the same name is Maiden Lake Supper Club.
The rustic, welcoming, small-town supper club has been locally-owned for more than 30 years, and it's everything you could hope for.
Known for their catch of the day, fish fry and Gorgonzola-covered steaks, Wisconsin Trails Magazine named Maiden Lake Supper Club one of the best supper clubs in Wisconsin for two consecutive years.
But while the staff, the food and the cocktails are all superb, ultimately, people come back to Maiden Lake Supper Club again and again for the stellar views.
With its spot on the far western edge of this long, 278 acre lake, the views out the windows and from the patio make it seem like the water goes on forever.
Part of what makes Maiden Lake Supper Club so great is that it really fits so many different needs. It's a recognized standard for great Wisconsin supper clubs, but also has the outdoor cocktail deck, boat slips, a warm, inviting dining room, and a rustic bar with fireplace all overlooking beautiful Maiden Lake.
Though the views are really stunning, you should know that the food is also really, really good. Not only will you find standard supper club fare, but there's always a chef's special, the seafood is amazing and the prices really can't be beat.
Whether you're settling in for a drink or a full meal, you'll find yourself never wanting to leave this total hidden gem of a spot in the National Forest.
