There are a lot of ways to beat the heat in Wisconsin, but one of the best can be found on the east shore of Lake Winnebago. Ziegler Winery is a unique establishment that offers guests a chance to sip a fine vintage while enjoying a cool and fresh lake breeze. It’s a combination that’s hard to beat. Read on to see what’s waiting for you at Ziegler Winery.
The winery is located in Fond du Lac County in the tiny unincorporated community of Malone. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Fond du Lac and it’s a nice rest stop if you’re enjoying a scenic drive through the area.
The land here is part of the Wisconsin Ledge AVA, an area with a temperate climate that rivals that of some of the best wine-growing regions on earth. It was the perfect spot to build the winery.
The winery has grown to more than 7,000 vines across 12 acres. All were planted by hand. A pleasant patio allows visitors to take the beauty of this landscape in as they enjoy a glass of wine.
The property has used reclaimed materials from a nearby old silo and barn to create a tasting room and shop. The winery is expansive; it includes a tasting room with two upper mezzanine levels, two larger lower levels with some fireplace seating, an outdoor enclosed patio, and a second patio with a stage area. It hosts live bands in warmer months.
The winery is open Wednesday-Sunday. Learn more about Ziegler Winery on the business website. If you enjoy seeking out special Wisconsin wineries, here are some you can visit all year long.
