There’s a reason Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has endured for all these years. Something about the charm of Victorian England seems to fit with the holiday season and the quaint customs of ye olde England take on a shiny, magical feeling at Christmas time. There’s a small town way down on the border with Illinois that has bottle up all that’s enchanting, charming and magical about the idea of a Victorian Christmas and they unleash it one day in early December to create one of the coolest Christmas celebrations you’ll find anywhere in Wisconsin.
Sharon is a small town of just 1,600 folks just north of the Illinois border about midway between Beloit and Lake Geneva. And every year, this charming small town becomes even more special as it transforms into something out of a Dickens novel to create a one-of-a-kind Victorian Christmas celebration.
Visit with Santa all evening and watch the tree lighting at 6 p.m. Have dinner at the Victorian Cafe, roast chestnuts, see dog sled demonstrations and more.
In true Victorian style, the parade here is all about horse-drawn carriages. Wagons and carriages are available for limited rides throughout the night, but it's the parade where they truly shine - sometimes literally.
The whole town transforms to something straight out of A Christmas Carol and you'll find yourself channeling Tiny Tim as you wish everyone a Merry Christmas and join in the holiday cheer.
There's just something so magical about such a small town transforming itself to celebrate the holidays. You and your family will love celebrating this old-school way, with open fires for roasting chestnuts, spiced cider, carolers and more.
The Historic Downtown Sharon Victorian Christmas is unlike anywhere else and frankly it just wouldn't work in a bigger town. This is truly a collaborative small-town effort where everyone comes together and adds a little of their own magic together to create an enchanting experience.
