In addition to demos and exhibit, some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in Wisconsin are cooked up each year at an event in Manitowoc. Each spring, the Lakeshore Grilled Cheese Competition brings together some top amateur sandwich chefs, as well as foodies who love a great grilled cheese.

The competition takes place in The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, a facility that strives to connect the curiosity of visitors to the wonders of farming. It’s located about seven miles south of downtown Manitowoc and it’s an easy day trip from places like Milwaukee and Green Bay.

The facility features a variety of interactive exhibits on Wisconsin agriculture, it offers farm tours and in has a “Birthing Barn” where on some days you can see a live calf birth!
