Mount Horeb’s Norwegian roots can still be felt today. From the architecture to the town’s mascot, Scandinavian culture is never far away. In fact, Mount Horeb is known as the troll capital of the world.

Trolls can be found all over in Mount Horeb. The Grumpy Troll offers delicious food and a fun ambiance. Be sure to try some traditional Wisconsin fare – a Friday fish fry.
If outdoor exploring is up your alley, Mount Horeb will not disappoint. It is located in what is known as the Driftless Area, which is so named due to its unique geography.
This area was missed by glacial deposits (or drifts) during the last ice age. This led to some very interesting landscape features, including deep river valleys, steep hills, and spring-fed waterfalls.
You can check out more of the topography at Tyrol Basin. Here you can ski during the colder months (which is…most of them, in Wisconsin).
