We’ve got lots of trains and train-related attractions here in Wisconsin, but none are quite like Shorewood’s Ghost Train. Probably not at all what you’re thinking, the Ghost Train isn’t some sort of haunted attraction. It’s not even a real train; however, you may have to convince your senses of that because it emits all the lights and sounds of one. Take a look:
The Oak Leaf Trail is most commonly associated with hikers and bikers. But that’s not all you’ll find on the popular path.
More specifically, it’s a light and sound version of an actual train, complete with a train whistle, the sound of a train barreling down the tracks, and a slew of colorful, flashing lights.
But the Ghost Train doesn’t mimic just any train. It’s actually an ode to Twin Cities 400, a passenger train that passed through Shorewood from 1935-1963.
And just like back then, it attracts crowds of spectators.
In addition to nightly departures, the Ghost Train makes specials runs throughout the year, including Night of the Ghost Train Celebration, which is October 31st.
In addition to the Ghost Train, the fun-filled event includes a kids' costume contest, ghost stories, and free refreshments.
