The holiday spirit can sometimes appear where you least expect it. In Wisconsin, you can enjoy a big dose of Christmas cheer while wearing flip-flops and a swimsuit. Mt. Olympus, a popular Wisconsin waterpark, gets decked out for the season every year with a Christmas village that even features an appearance by the jolly guy himself. Here’s what you need to know about this festive destination.
Mt. Olympus is located in one of Wisconsin’s most popular vacation destinations – Wisconsin Dells. “The Dells” are filled with water parks and Mt. Olympus is one of the best, especially during the holidays.
The park was founded in 1990 by Demetrios “Jim” Laskaris, who emigrated from Greece and built an entertainment empire. Mt. Olympus has an Ancient Greece theme, celebrating its mythology and gods. It’s named after the mountain in Greece where those gods were believed to live. The park also celebrates some traditions of a different sort.
The water park is as epic as its theme and draws big crowds in the summer. It has 51 attractions, including five coasters, 37 waterslides, and five go-kart tracks. But it's especially magical in the winter.
The fun doesn’t end with the summer season. Mt. Olympus is open year-round and it has a lively indoor water and theme park. In December, something very special appears at Mt. Olympus – a Christmas Village!
A Santa’s Christmas Village stay includes passes to the indoor water park and mini-golf course, complimentary milk and cookies from Santa (he shares!), and candy cane treats from Santa.
The Christmas Village also includes a pass to the Night of Lights show – it’s an incredible holiday show that dazzles visitors with millions of twinkling lights.
