There was a time, before robotic machines and rotary milking parlors, when milking a cow involved a stool, a bucket, and a little hard work. A unique farm in Wisconsin gives you chance to relive those days and experience a simple farming task that was so important to the growth and development of Wisconsin. At Mulberry Lane Farm, you can experience many fascinating aspects of farm life, including the chance to milk an actual Wisconsin dairy cow.
Mulberry Lane Farm is located just north of Hilbert, Wisconsin a Calumet County community that’s a short drive from Appleton and the Fox Cities. It’s a rural area that’s dotted with dairy farms.
But Mulberry Farm is no ordinary dairy farm. It’s a farm with a mission: provide an ideal country learning environment where people of all ages can interact and learn about farm animals through hands-on group and self-guided tours.
The farm has a wide variety of animals, including pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, geese, and donkeys. But the cows offer a special opportunity for visitors.
Kids have a chance to learn how to milk an actual cow and they can also learn important facts about the animal – for example, brown cows do not produce chocolate milk!
The farm welcomes families, individuals, and small groups. Tours are all-inclusive and include a hayride, milking the cow, and feeding the goats. Cow kisses are free!
The farm frequently holds special events, including a fall pumpkin harvest celebration. If you work up a big hunger milking that dairy cow, you might consider heading to one of Wisconsin’s delicious farm-fresh restaurants. Just be sure to order a glass of milk!
