Summer ends in a wonderful way in Middleton, with a family-friendly festival that takes over the town. Middleton’s Good Neighbor Festival includes fun activities for all ages, including games and rides for kids, a parade, a craft show, and live music. It’s the perfect excuse to visit the Madison area. Here’s why Middleton’s Good Neighbor Festival is one of Wisconsin’s best family events.
Middleton is a city with about 20,000 residents that’s located just west of Madison. The community has some great restaurants and attractions, and its downtown has been extensively redeveloped in recent years.
While the city has changed a lot over the years, one festival remains as classic as ever. Good Neighbor Festival began in 1963 when two residents dreamed up the idea of a big festival that would support the community’s service organizations.
Good Neighbor Festival was born. It’s still going strong six decades later. It includes an Art and Craft Fair in Fireman’s Park – vendors sell jewelry, metal/glass art, folk art, fiber, ceramics, embroidery, and more.
Be sure to arrive hungry. The festival includes plenty of great food and drink vendors and the proceeds support area nonprofits. If you over indulge, burn off a few calories at the event’s 5k race.
I’ve really enjoyed this festival over the years – maybe I’ll see you there this summer! Learn more about Good Neighbor Festival on the festival’s website. Need a place to stay for the weekend? Reserve a hotel room on Booking.com. Wisconsin has tons of amazing festivals and events that you should definitely check out!
