When the days are short, dark, and even a little bleak, there are still some places that still shine brightly. Across Wisconsin, holiday light displays are celebrating the season in style with millions of twinkling lights. One of the brightest is a drive-through display in southeast Wisconsin that’s one of the best holiday displays in Wisconsin – it’s over a mile long! Here’s what you need to know about the Christmas Carnival of Lights.
This incredible display can be found in the Wisconsin community of Caledonia. It’s a village tucked into the northeast corner of Racine County, about 20 minutes from Milwaukee. It’s an easy drive from most places in the Milwaukee area.
The Carnival of Lights is located in the Jellystone Park Campground & Resort, and it bills itself as the midwest’s biggest, brightest, and most dazzling drive-through holiday light shows.
It lives up to the billing. The show is enormous, covering 1.6 miles, and the lights are all synchronized to music. There are 60-foot-tall trees decorated for the show. You’ll feel like you’ve entered a holiday movie!
You can take in the Carnival of Lights in a few different ways. You can relax in the comfort of your car, you can take in the lights from a golf cart holiday train, or you can grab a seat in Santa’s sleigh – it’s enormous, and it holds up to 43 people!
The drive will take you past unique hand-crafted displays that feature elves, reindeer, forest friends, children's characters, Santa, and millions of colored lights.
This is an event you’ll want to soak in – after traveling past the displays and through the tunnels of lights, you can enjoy a hot beverage, get your picture taken with Santa, or write a letter to him and have it sent directly to the North Pole. If you’re looking for where to find the Christmas spirit, this is the place!
