Summer is already half over. That’s why it’s important to make time for the important things – like crossing those items off of your bucket list. Here are 10 once-in-a-lifetime Wisconsin adventures you need to make sure you get to.
1. Apostle Islands (Bayfield)
These islands will have you pinching yourself asking if this is Wisconsin. Stunning rocks jutting out of the waters of northern Wisconsin will blow you away. Tour the sea caves with a kayak or, if truly brave, walk out on the ice and tour the ice caves.
2. Pewits Nest (Baraboo)
This 40-foot gorge was created when the last glacier retreated. This area truly looks like something out of a fairy tale. Bonus points if you take a dip here.
3. Feed Giraffes at the Zoo (Suamico)
At the NEW Zoo, you can feed giraffes. There is nothing quite like seeing a giant giraffe tongue trying to get the cracker out of your hand.
4. Cave of the Mounds (Blue Mounds)
This cave is the best in Wisconsin and is one of the most famous in all the Midwest. Lighted walkways help you safely view all sorts of marvels.
5. Big Manitou Falls (Douglas County)
This waterfall is the tallest in Wisconsin, rumbling some 165 feet down. You can get an amazing view of it at Pattison State Park.
6. Tour Lambeau Field (Green Bay)
You should definitely get to a game, but make sure you get a tour sometime. You can see a lot of behind-the-scenes areas and, more importantly, be down on the field.
7. Devil's Lake State Park (Baraboo)
This gorgeous 360-acre lake is surrounded by tall bluffs, which are amazing hiking trails. Awesome rock formations make this a truly incredible sight.
8. Horicon Marsh (Horicon)
You can walk out on a boardwalk on this gorgeous nature preserve. It is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States.
9. Elroy-Sparta Trail (Monroe to Juneau County)
This is considered the oldest "rails to trails" system in the country. It is remarkable because of its three tunnels, two of which have giant wooden doors on the outside of them.
10. Wyalusing State Park (Bagley)
Wisconsin is full of some epic views, but this one might take the cake. Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers, this area is lush, green, and stunning.
