There’s an awesome new attraction at McCarty Park on Milwaukee’s west side. Local folks have built a 10,000 square foot maze, the first of it’s kind in the area. Meant to be part of the community, family-friendly and fun, the Milwaukee Maze is pretty awesome and unique way to spend some time together.
The maze is the brainchild of a local couple and they're hoping that the location in West Allis won't be their last.
Newly opened, the maze asks entrants to find four different colored flags before making their way back out. Estimates say it should take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.
The panels are reconfigured every couple of weeks so that no one can memorize the maze. Tickets are marked with a start time when you enter and you punch a hole at each of the four colored flags when you find them. Then your time is marked again when you exit.
There's a leaderboard to keep track of the fastest time, but there's also a phone number to call if you get lost in the maze and feel like you can't find your way out.
Right now, the maze is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The plan is to be open through the summer, then shut down briefly in September before reopening with a haunted theme for Halloween. Plans for a December holiday theme are also in the works.
If you're looking for a test of your skills, a fun afternoon with your family and something you won't find anywhere else, this awesome locally-owned and operated maze is something you just have to check out.
