A little-known Wisconsin Park is a gem that’s waiting to be discovered by nature lovers and campers who enjoying a getaway to someplace new and unusual. Ledge Park, a county park in Dodge County, has vistas of an incredible marsh, small canyons, intriguing rock formations and it’s the gateway to one of the state’s best recreation trails. You’ll find this 82-acre gem of a park about four miles east of Horicon in Dodge County. It’s located just south of the Horicon Marsh, a vast wetlands that’s visited by scores of migratory birds every year – 200,000 geese alone pass through here in the fall and spring.
The park is located on the Niagara Escarpment, a huge geologic feature that extends through the Great Lakes Region and includes the iconic Niagara Falls. The escarpment divides the park into two levels.
Ledge Park is also a great launching point for an adventure on the Wild Goose State Trail, a 34-mile rail-trail that skirts the western edge of the Horicon Marsh from Fond du Lac to Clyman Junction.
