There are a million things to discover in Wisconsin’s world-famous House on the Rock. The one-of-a-kind attraction is filled with antiques, natural wonders, and amusing finds. But one of its wonders will really get your heart going. It’s high above the tree tops and you won’t want to look down, unless you’re very brave. Here’s what’s waiting for you at the House on the Rock in Wisconsin:
House on The Rock is one of those places that has to be seen to be truly understood. It’s a sprawling collection of architecturally distinct rooms, streets, gardens, and shops between the communities of Dodgeville and Spring Green.
The attraction has been a fixture of Wisconsin tourism for a long time – it opened back in 1959 and features tons of weird and wonderful exhibits, including a carousel that has 269 different animals, 182 chandeliers, over 20,000 lights, and hundreds of mannequin angels hanging from the ceiling.
The crown jewel of the property is the “house” built on top of Deer Rock. It’s perched on a massive column that rises from the forest, an unusual and spectacular place to build a structure.
The Infinity Room is one of the property’s most amazing features. It opened in 1985 and it’s a real wonder. It protrudes out 218 feet from the House on the Rock. Hang on – the room has no visible means of support!
The Infinity Room is filled with glass, 3,000 panes in all, and it offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. But one pane deserves a special look.
House on the Rock is less than an hour from Madison so it makes a great day trip destination in that corner of Wisconsin. Learn more about House on the Rock and see the current hours on its website. Once House on the Rock is ticked off your bucket list, take this road trip to some more quirky Wisconsin attractions.
