Hudson is one of Wisconsin’s hidden gem cities. Other spots along the nearby Mississippi River tend to get the attention, but this great town along the St. Croix River has so much to offer. It’s a wonderful spot in the summer, where folks love handing out along the banks of the river, but a local spot with a killer patio found a way to enjoy those amazing views and the relaxed feel of outside dining during winter. Pier 500 is well-known to have one of the best patios in the area and they realized it was a shame to let all that space go unused and unloved in the winter.
Pier 500 is one of the most popular spots in Hudson thanks to delicious food, stellar drinks and an amazing atmosphere. Once the weather warms up, their patio will be packed to the gills with folks taking advantage of the stellar views and warm weather.
The folks here at Pier 500 figured out that the beloved patio was going to waste all winter long and figured out a way to maximize the amount of time this space can be used. They saw these great igloos in use at other places across the country and figured they were perfect for Pier 500.
There are four igloos in use at Pier 500. Two are meant for a sit down dinner of up to six people and two are meant more as a lounge space where you can relax with drinks and games like cribbage and more.
The full menu is available in the dining igloo, as well as some special cold and winter-themed items. The dining igloos are available for reservation in two hour increments and seat 6-10 people. There is a space heater inside to keep the temperature up, but you'll still want to dress warm and maybe even bring a blanket.
Check out the soup or fondue or a special hot chocolate maybe spiked with something to keep you even warmer. You really can't go wrong with anything on this menu. The specialty drinks they've concocted specifically for enjoying in the igloos are unique, fun and super delicious.
This is a totally awesome and unique way to spend a few hours with your friends, and you won't forget the experience. If you can time your reservation with the sunset, you definitely won't regret it. The area is lit up at night, as well, so really there's no bad time to check it out.
These igloos will make you feel like you could be dining at the end of the earth. They're so fun and you'll have a blast enjoying the gorgeous scenery and having a meal you won't soon forget.
Though the appeal here is definitely the novelty of the igloo, we promise it will also be accompanied by one of the best meals you've ever had. There are plenty of patios to enjoy around here, so folks wouldn't be flocking here just to spend some time by the river if it wasn't the food and drinks bringing them back.
Dress in layers, grab some friends, call and make some reservations and enjoy one of the coolest - literally and figuratively - nights out you could ever imagine. The plan is to have the igloos up well into March and as long as the cold lasts - so you could be checking these things out in May if this winter keeps up. A lot of weekends are booked, but you should still be able to find a weekday to take advantage and have a blast.
