After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, Daniella began to hone her writing skills through various internships. In the years since, she’s had the privilege of having her articles appear in several publications, such as the Mississippi-based Parents & Kids Magazine. She’s also had the honor of interviewing actress Sela Ward for The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience.
Lots of places promote fun for everyone, but Monk Botanical Gardens actually delivers! The 30-acre site includes several themed gardens. But it’s not just beautiful blooms and lush greenery that fill the gardens. There are lots of fantastic features, like a treehouse, nature trails, and workshops and classes. Take a look:
Dubbed an “urban sanctuary for education,” Monk Botanical Gardens is nestled alongside the bustling streets of Wausau.
It's actually made up of a few themed gardens. There’s the Meditation Garden, which is as idyllic as expected. For the young (and young at heart), there’s a whimsical children’s garden.
Designed to offer a complete seed-to-table experience, it’s managed by area groups, who plant produce, then tend and harvest it, and finally, prepare the food in the garden’s demonstration kitchen.
The garden's allure goes far beyond its beauty, though. Monk Botanical Gardens hosts workshops, classes, and special events, such as plant sales, throughout the year.
