Where Can I Find The Best Breakfast Spots In Wisconsin?
Green Bay has a great one, but the absolute king of pancakes in Wisconsin is the Wisconsin Dells area. These are three of our favorites.
- Mr. Pancake catches your eye from the moment you approach - it's housed in a building that looks like an old-school Mississippi riverboat! But inside, it's an all-American diner, and you won't go wrong here with the massive pancakes or waffles - which come topped with a veritable mountain of whipped cream. If you're not in the mood for so much sugar in the morning, this unique breakfast spot also gets high marks for its omelets, hash browns, and smoky breakfast meats.
- The Carroll House is the definition of a hidden gem, found in the tiny community of Sister Bay set apart from all the big attractions of the Dells. This old-school breakfast nook is housed in a humble country house and usually has a line out the door by mid-morning. It's usually filled with locals chowing down on massive portions of eggs, pancakes, and waffles. The Door County area is famous for its cherries, so make sure to get a big pile of syrupy fruits on top of your pancakes!
- There is likely no restaurant in all of Wisconsin more iconic than Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty, and this local chain's Wisconsin Dells location is definitely the flagship. Themed to the American legend of the mighty lumberjack, it serves meals fit for the giant - all-you-can-eat breakfast and brunch plates featuring eggs, sausage, ham, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes - and fresh-fried buttermilk donuts! Lunch offers an a-la-carte menu, while dinner shifts back to the all-you-can-eat feast for a meal of fried chicken, a second rotating meat, and a table full of sides.
