Every year, something magical appears outside of a Lake Geneva area resort. Destination Geneva National hosts an annual event that takes visitors into another world: Ice Castles. These colorful frozen creations don’t last long but they are one of Wisconsin’s best winter attractions. Here’s what you need to know about the ice castles.
Wisconsin is just one of five locations for this incredible event – they can also be found in Minnesota, New Hampshire, Utah, and New York. Wisconsin’s ice castles are located at this resort on the shore of Lake Como. In warmer months, it’s a top golfing destination.
When the clubs are packed away, it’s still a great destination. Talented ice artists build the experience by creating hundreds of thousands of icicles.
It’s easy to lose yourself in this place – the experience includes breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, fountains, and more.
The slides provide a thrilling ride – this is the perfect place to take kids, although folks of all ages love this place. All you need is a sense of wonder.
There’s much more to this event than gorgeous ice. A snow queen and winter fairy will be making appearances at the event and there will be sleigh rides available, with a separate ticket. Just be sure to take plenty of pictures!
It goes without saying in Wisconsin: be sure to warm clothes and a good pair of winter boots - you'll want to be comfortable when you take all of this in!
