One of Wisconsin’s oldest and most historic homes is holding an estate sale on June 8th, 2019 to help clear out their storage and raise money to secure more of the original pieces from the home as well as pay for upkeep and restoration. The home was built from 1890-1892 by Captain Frederick Pabst, founder of the Pabst Brewing Company. Built in the Flemish Renaissance Revival style, this ornate building stands right along Milwaukee’s Wisconsin Avenue and was home to the Pabst family before the Archdiocese of Milwaukee owned it for nearly seven decades. Since 1978, it has been open to the public and stands as a testament to the state’s rich brewing past. The Mansion has come to stand as a de facto steward for historic Milwaukee and has found itself in possession of a number of items that are collecting dust and taking space. So, just like we all would do, these folks are having a yard sale!
The sale will take place on June 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from the mansion. Parking will be limited, so be prepared to park on the street and hoof it in to find some deals.
This ornate and gorgeous mansion dates back to 1890, and it has been a museum of sorts for the past 40 years. As the mansion staff has been able to repurchase and replace items original to the house, they've found themselves with rooms full of historic, old, beautiful stuff that no longer has a home in the mansion.
No items for sale will come directly from the Pabst Mansion Collection. Instead, you'll find fine art, decorative objects and furniture that had been once been on display in the house but have now been switched out for pieces known to be original to the decor. In addition to pieces from the house and yearly holiday displays and exhibitions, you'll also find items from exhibits and pieces of history from all across the city.
The staff intends to include architectural fragments from lost Milwaukee buildings, antique furniture, framed artworks, decorative objects, Christmas décor, glassware, breweriana and more. Expect the style and history of items found at this sale to rival the intricacy, history and beauty of the kinds of things currently taking up every inch of space in the house.
You'll find incredible detail all over the exterior and interior of the Pabst Mansion and you can expect the pieces that will be for sale at the estate event to match the style and feel of the rest of the building. From grand staircases inside and out to elaborately carved wood and intricate details, the Pabst Mansion is an homage to this style of architecture. Anyone with an eye for opulence should be planning to get to this sale bright and early.
The sale is meant to help clear out all the storage spots in the mansion and raise money for the upkeep and renovation of the home. It also gets unused, but still usable pieces into the hands of those who will love and enjoy them instead of letting them waste away in a storage space or basement.
Prices at the sale start at $2 and range up $1,500. Cash and credit will be accepted and anything purchased that day will have to be picked up by the end of the sale that same day.

In addition, Craft Cow will be on site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. serving up delicious local food to shoppers with a portion of proceeds going back to the house.
