In breathtaking Newport State Park, Lynd Point Trail stands out as a crown jewel among the most scenic hikes in Wisconsin. This wild hiking path offers a gorgeous waterfront experience that’s a treat to casual and serious hikers. Lace up your hiking shoes – Lynd Point Trail is waiting for you with stunning vistas, tranquil ambiance, and awe-inspiring natural beauty.
Lynd Point Trail is a meandering path that winds along the pristine shores of Lake Michigan within Newport State Park, which is renowned for its untouched wilderness and diverse ecosystems.
The trail heads north from Lot 3, one of the park’s main parking areas. It takes hikers north through lush forests, and along rocky outcrops. Hikers are treated to panoramic vistas of Lake Michigan's cold waters.
The relatively easy terrain makes this hiking path accessible to hikers of varying skill levels, inviting families, solo explorers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
What sets Lynd Point Trail apart from some Door County hikes is its serene ambiance. The gentle lapping of the waves against the shoreline creates a peaceful soundtrack for hikers – on some days you’ll encounter few others on your hike.
You can make a loop hike via a return on the Fern Trail. In the woods, you’ll likely encounter some wildlife. Birdwatchers can spot many avian species, while keen-eyed hikers might happen upon deer, foxes, and other woodland creatures.
After your hike, you may want to allow time to relax on spectacular Newport Beach, or enjoy a meal in the picnic area. I love this park and have been enjoying these trails for a very long time.
