Birchwood was founded as a logging town and it’s located in northwestern Wisconsin. It’s part of a region known for its numerous lakes and wild forests. The village is surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. It’s in the far southwest corner of Washburn County.
The village has just 400 people but, there’s a lot to do. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail passes by here, as well as the Tuscobia State Trail. There are places to camp, hike, boat, and fish – it’s kown as the Bluegill Capital of Wisconsin.
A lot of vacationers visit this area, and the Pit Stop BBQ Smokehouse is popular with travelers as well as locals. When you taste the food, you’ll see why.
The Pit Stop BBQ Smokehouse is located on Highway 48, in a wood-clad Cenex Station that formerly housed another Northwoods restaurant. There’s plenty of parking and some great food waiting for you inside.
