Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, Wisconsin has an unbelievable breadth of landscapes and experiences to offer its visitors. Situated on the banks of Lake Michigan, the park offers 2.5 miles of sandy beach, camping, boardwalk trails, local flora and fauna, and the Sanderling Nature Center.
In addition to the beautiful beachfront, you can explore river marsh, pine and hardwood forests, and sand dunes at this stunning state park. This landscape began forming during the glacial period when Lake Michigan was made as glaciers melted and moved.
The state park we know and love today is actually two state parks established in the 1920s and 1960s and joined together for a combined 1,000 acres of community space.
Kohler-Andrae is proof that you don't need to live on the coast to enjoy a good beach day. The sandy beach and dunes of the state park rival the oceanfront any day.
In addition to enjoying the beach, visitors to the park can go kayaking, canoeing, and boating on Lake Michigan, camp in the beautiful landscape, fish in the lake, and go horseback riding on the beach.
Consider starting your day at the Nature Center to learn about local plants, then you'll be able to spot them during your walks along the parklands throughout the day.
The Kohler-Andrae State Park is a unique landscape in the heart of Wisconsin. Here in the middle of America, you can bask on a beach and stroll among sand dunes like you’re visiting the shores of Cape Cod. Between golden-hour sunsets along the water and horseback riding on the beach, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation in your own state.
