Historic Houses in Wisconsin

Wisconsin is home (haha, see what I did there) to many historic houses. All of them are beautiful in their own way, and you cannot take any bad pictures of them. Here are some of the top ones we’ve visited:

1. Wisconsin Governor's Mansion (Madison). It welcomes over 20,000 visitors annually.

2. Little White Schoolhouse (Ripon). This is the birthplace of the Republican party.

3. Fairlawn Mansion (Superior). This Victorian-style house was built in 1890 and was restored to its natural beauty.

4. Bernard Schwartz House (Two Rivers). This house was erected in 1939 by Frank Lloyd Wright. Tours are offered.

5. H.C. Timm House (New Holstein). Known for its "stick style" architecture, the home was renovated in 2007.

6. Urban J. Lewis House (Kenosha) was built in 1892 in German renaissance revival style.

7. The Statz House (Middleton). This home was built in 1856 by an immigrant stonecutter.

8. Goodman Clubhouse (Goodman). This house was built just after 1900. It houses a supper club.

9. 1901 Animal House (Baraboo). The building was used by the Ringling Brothers, housing mostly giraffes and hippos for the circus.

10. Sorenson House (Manitowoc). This stunning house was built in 1901 and has all kinds of charm.

11. Keenan House (Madison). It was originally built in the Romanesque Revival style.
