A new campground in Wisconsin is bringing a new chapter of fun and relaxation to a longtime Wisconsin camping lake. Emrick Lake Campground & Resort is welcoming guests to the site of an old Boy Scout camp. Today you can enjoy all the magic of this place, minus the merit badges and neck scarves, and it’s as peaceful as it was decades ago. Here’s why Emrick Lake Campground & Resort is an awesome Wisconsin camping resort.
This hidden gem, formerly known as Camp Freeland Leslie, has a rich history that dates back to 1970, when it was purchased by the DuPage Area Council. In its tent days, the camp welcomed over a thousand scouts a year to the lake.
The scout camp operated for decades, but in 2021, after 50 years of operation, the Three Fires Council made the decision to sell the camp. It was not the end of camping here – just a new chapter. A local family acquired the property with a vision to create something extraordinary.
The setting on Lake Emrick, is perfect - it’s a pleasant lake that’s surrounded by lush greenery. It’s ideal for swimming, boating, canoeing, and sailing, and it offers visitors an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The resort is a little less spartan than the old scout camp. Amenities include new pools with a swim-up bar, an aqua park, and a planned restaurant and bar.
The resort has thought of just about everything in this new campground – there are full amenities for your camper, and you can even get coffee and donuts delivered to your site. The campground has big plans - it intends to be one of the largest of its kind in Wisconsin!
