Literary lovers, rejoice! We found just the place for you to satisfy your craving for a good read – and it’s Chequamegon Books. Housed in a historic brownstone, the massive bookstore is stocked with more than 70,000 books from just about every genre…and then some. Take a look:
Chequamegon Books is located in Washburn on Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay near the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
And while the building’s history is impressive, it’s what’s inside that’s sure to amaze – and that’s because the interior is stocked with thousands of books.
There are even books about books. The vastness of the store’s collection hasn’t been lost on the owner, who says, "We have books that no one has or even wants to have!"
Chequamegon Books is open Monday – Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sundays, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Hours may vary in the winter, so it’s a good idea to call before you visit. For more information, call (715) 373-2899. You can also visit the Chequamegon Books website.
