There’s a Milwaukee mansion that offers guests a chance to enjoy a luxurious stay, some live theater, and perhaps, a sighting of a ghost. The stately brick Brumder Mansion is close to downtown and Milwaukee’s major attractions; this mansion in Wisconsin is something of an attraction itself, a beautiful and historic home that offers an experience like no other. But beware, you may spot an uninvited guest! Here’s what you need to know about the (allegedly) haunted Brumder Mansion in Wisconsin…
Every room in this mansion is gorgeous. It was designed in the English Arts & Crafts style: the building blends Victorian, Gothic, and Arts & Crafts elements.
This ghost story starts with George Brumder, a German immigrant who became a prominent Milwaukee businessman – a guy who knew presidents. He owed a small German language publishing empire and was president of a bank and a fire insurance company. He built this house for his son.
The house has had a series of owners but in recent years it has been a bed and breakfast and entertainment venue. A 55-seat Victorian theater hosts events downstairs and in the main home, well-appointed suites welcome guests.
One ghost might be an apparition of the original home’s owner. Strange voices and other unexplained happenings occurred in one of the suites. Some guests have also reported vivid dreams of a mysterious woman. And there have been other sightings of a child ghost.
There’s much more to this home than spirits though – it’s been named one of the top romantic inns in the country. The suites are furnished with beautiful antiques and have modern amenities like whirlpool tubs and new flat screen televisions. Relax, but keep one eye open!
The mansion is a nice destination for a getaway and it can hosts private events like bridal showers, weddings, receptions, honeymoons and anniversaries. Learn more about booking a stay here. If you love hunting Wisconsin ghosts, here’s where to find some of the scariest in the state.
