Fragrant Isle: One Of Wisconsin's Biggest Lavender Farms

Did you know Wisconsin is home to the Midwest’s largest lavender farm? It’s true, and you’ve got to visit. Nothing short of whimsical, the farm boasts 20,000 lavender plants — but that’s not all. There’s also a shop, nursery, and bistro. And that’s in addition to a slew of events the farm hosts throughout the year. A real feast for the senses, any time spent on the farm won’t soon be forgotten. Take a look:

The perfect day trip destination, the farm features lush lavender fields, a store, a restaurant, and more.

Like we mentioned earlier, Fragrant Isle is the Midwest’s largest lavender grower — but that’s not its only claim to fame. It’s also Washington Island’s first lavender farm.

The best time to visit the farm is mid-June until the end of August, which is when the 20,000 lavender plants will be in peak bloom.

In addition to quantity, the fields feature quite the variety. The farm grows 14 different kinds of lavender.

Visitors to the farm can explore the acres upon acres of lavender plants — all while enjoying the phenomenal aroma.

Being able to stroll through the expansive lavender fields is enough of a reason to visit the farm, but it’s not the only reason. There’s also the nursery and on-site store, where you can stock up on everything lavender.

After filling up your shopping basket at the store, you can fill your stomach with a visit to the farm’s bistro.

Tasty sandwiches and baked goods are just a few things offered at the on-site eatery.

The fun doesn’t end there, though. From late-July through August, you can visit the farm’s production barn for a tour

There are also a variety of activities and events held throughout the year. One of the most popular is the u-pick event, which began on July 15, 2019, and will end on August 31, 2019.

New events are constantly being added, too. Past and upcoming events include things like tours, paint and sips, wine tastings, massages, yoga, and more.

Fragrant Isle is open seasonally. During the summer season, which begins May 1^stand extends until October, it’s open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the winter, which runs from November 1^st through December 31^st, it’s open Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call (920) 847-2950.
