There are a lot of great places to see live music in Wisconsin, including large outdoor amphitheaters, lively downtown clubs, and annual summer festivals. But there’s a little place to catch live music in Green County that’s hard to beat. Perched in the pretty hills on the edge of New Glarus, Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery keeps the live music and beverages flowing. When I visited this country winery, I discovered what a growing number of people already know: On a warm night, the place is about as good as Wisconsin gets.
New Glarus is a quaint village tucked into Green County - it's an easy drive from Madison, but it feels a world away.
Known as "America's Little Switzerland," this picturesque town delivers a big dose of Old World charm combined with plenty of Midwestern hospitality. I've enjoyed some great bike adventures on the surrounding Green County farm roads.
This is agricultural country, and the area has a rich history of dairy farming.
From dry reds like "Remember Me Red" and "Rebel Faith" to refreshing whites like "Itasca" and "Seyval Blanc," there's something to suit every taste. I'm not a big wine drinker, but I still found plenty to enjoy here.
The winery has become the best place to see outdoor music in New Glarus, and it showcases talented musicians year-round.
On warm summer nights, musicians perform on a stage that’s set in front of the winery’s lush grape vines. People gather inside, on the lawn, or on the winery’s expansive porch.
The winery is worth visiting any time of year, as is a new, adjacent business, Whiskey Run Distillery.
But on warm nights, you’ll want to take your beverage outside to hear the music!
I’ve visited this winery a couple of times and hope to return soon – it’s a great place to spend a summer’s evening and enjoy live music in Wisonsin. Learn more about Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery on the winery’s website. If you’re planning a road trip to New Glarus, here’s a packing list to help ensure you have everything you’ll need.
