There’s a charming little park in Sparta that’s right on target. If you’re not from the area, you might not have heard of Amundson Park, but it’s a wonderful little place for a stroll while you’re exploring the area’s beautiful countryside and famous bicycling routes. The park has a pretty little waterfall, and if you’re into archery, you can take aim at a few targets. It’s a classic and beautiful Wisconsin park—here’s what’s waiting for you at Sparta’s Amundson Par.
Sparta, pop. 10,000, is the county seat of Monroe County. It’s located at one end of the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, the first railway path in the country that was converted into a bike path.
This is no Niagara Falls – the waterfall has a drop of a couple of feet, depending on how the river is flowing. But it’s a pretty place and a nice spot to pause on your hike.
The park has some other amenities, too, like a dog exercise area, a bike repair station, a picnic area, a disc golf course, and an archery area – you may want to bring your bow!
This looks like the perfect place to spend an afternoon with the family, just relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. While you’re in Sparta, you may want to also check out the city’s library, which looks like a castle!
