Not Many People Remember That Wisconsin Was Once Home To The World's Longest Alpine Coaster

A lot of attractions have come and gone in the Badger State. Some we easily forget, while others are greatly missed. Cascade Mountain’s alpine coaster is definitely one of the latter. Though only open for a short period of time, it gained notoriety as the world’s longest alpine coaster. Gone for decades, there aren’t many pictures of the now-defunct coaster. However, we did find some rare footage of the once-beloved ride. The quality isn’t the best, but it captures just how thrilling the alpine coaster was in its heyday. Take a look:

Though only open for a couple of years, the coaster gained lots of attention since, at the time, it was the world’s longest alpine coaster. Riding the coaster required taking a chair lift to the top of the mountain. Once at the top, riders boarded a coaster car – and that’s when the real fun began. Definitely not for the faint of heart, the coaster car whizzed down the mountain, zooming through steep drops, curves, and high-speed straightaways.
