It’s true, and you can do it all from your couch thanks to this vintage video tour of Wisconsin. During the course of the 20-minute video, you’ll be transported to cities all across the state, making stops at several well-known sites and attractions. The vintage video footage below is from the 1960s TV show America! It is one of several shows produced and hosted by Jack Douglas. Born in 1927, Douglas had a long, successful career in the film industry; however, one of the things he’s most known for is his travel-adventure documentaries. In fact, it’s been said that all travel-adventure shows on television are modeled after Douglas’ format.

Lucky for us, Douglas saw just how special Wisconsin is and decided to devote an entire program to highlighting the state’s best and most notable features. The video is not even 30 minutes long, but it’s jam-packed with interesting facts about the state. It’s also filled with footage of some recognizable attractions, such as the Wisconsin State Capitol and the glass domes in Mitchell Park. Cities all across the state – from Racine to Hayward - are represented in the footage, too. Filmed decades ago, the video serves as a reminder just how much the Badger State has changed throughout the years.
