While the weather is nice in the summer, it’s nice to get out and enjoy a picnic every now and again. Looking for a great spot to have that picnic? Look no further. Here are a few good spots.
1. Beauty Mountain in Fayetteville
Walk along the cliffs and enjoy your lunch on a rock overlooking the New River Gorge (but be careful).
2. Kanawha State Forest
Some peace and quiet right outside of Charleston, WV. Kanawha State Forest has plenty of picnic areas and trails to work off those calories, if you so please.
3. Blackwater Falls near Davis
Enjoy a picnic with a great views of Blackwater Falls near Davis.
4. Bear Heaven campsite in Monongahela National Park
It's a great little campsite in the park, but with a name like Bear Heaven, you better be sure not to leave food behind or unattended.
5. Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Step back into time in this historic park.
6. Chestnut Ridge Park in Bruceton Mills
Enjoy your meal at one of these picnic tables or by the lake.
7. The area in front of Seneca Rocks
You can't beat that view of the rocks.
8. Summersville Lake
Go for a swim after you eat, (just be sure to wait 30 minutes).
9. Wheeling Park
Plenty of picnic spots available here as well as many other activities.
10. Carriage Trail in Charleston
Hands down the best view of the city is found at this overlook on Carriage Trail. It's a nice little secluded spot.
11.Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs
Enjoy a picnic on the beach by the lake.
12.Ritter Park in Huntington
One of the best city parks in West Virginia, in my humble opinion.
